Bardiya National Park established in 1969 was introduced as a Royal Hunting Reserve in the beginning later in 1982 it was again named as Bardia National Park. The par extended to cover up the entire Babai Valley occupying 968 sq.km and currently the region has been manifold. It is located in the mid-far western area and on the east shore of the Karnali River. It is the biggest and most serene wasteland section in the Terai region of Nepal.
